This will become an industry norm
GTA 6 on Netflix is going to be a different experience. This will be the first video game to have Netflix-exclusive content. Rockstar has announced that they will preview their upcoming and highly anticipated game on the biggest streaming platform, which is Netflix.
The relationship will certainly increase the viewership for Netflix, as gamers who don’t watch Netflix will subscribe for the next three months to see what happens and if there will be extended cuts or clips that are available on Netflix.
This is a very good business model for both companies, as the traditional way of showing exclusive content is boring, and doing it through a streaming platform is a good idea to showcase content that no one without a subscription will be privy to.
On the contrary, it is not a good thing, as showing exclusive content takes the anticipation away from the game. Rockstar showing images every month was good, as it kept the anticipation going, and surely, most gamers didn’t want to see exclusive content but play the actual game.
Rockstar has just announced that there will be three episodes with an hour of content for each episode, and not a two-minute trailer that was already scheduled.
Some gamers might want to see other players play a game; they would rather play the game, but then again, people watch streamers play games on Twitch and other platforms.
Regardless of the outcome, this will be a game-changer for the gaming industry, as more developers will want to showcase their game trailers on streaming platforms.
