The marketing genius from Rockstar for GTA 6

The leaks were not a coincidence

In the summer, Rockstar took an approach not to promote the game using both contemporary and traditional ways of promoting the game but instead having it shown on Netflix.

On the contrary, it is not a good thing, as showing exclusive content takes the anticipation away from the game. Rockstar showing images every month was good because it kept the anticipation going, and most gamers didn’t want to see exclusive content but play the actual game.

Rockstar has just announced that there will be three episodes, with an hour of content in each episode, instead of the two-minute trailer that was already scheduled.

Some gamers might want to see other players play the game; they would rather play it, but then again, people watch streamers play games on Twitch and other platforms. Regardless of the outcome, this will be a game-changer for the gaming industry, as more developers will want to showcase their game trailers on streaming platforms.

The game previews on Netflix tonight, and all gamers are patiently waiting for the game to be previewed. And Rockstar’s strategy might work. The leaks are no coincidence; they’re meant to make gamers tune in to watch the content on Netflix.

The leak is marketing genius from Rockstar because no one actually sees the leaked gameplay or any graphics that Rockstar hasn’t shown us before. This is a marketing masterclass from Rockstar, and other game developers should emulate this strategy.
