EA and 2K need to step up their game; otherwise, no one is playing their game this Autumn

It’s time for a switch-up

This is the time of the year when EA and 2K release their upcoming yearly overpriced games – FC27 and 2K27. However, this year feels different, and both companies know it. They have to do something different so that they don’t lose their fanbase. The release of GTA 6 will shut down their servers and will see fewer players playing their respective games.

FC26 has announced their open world; a feature that they needed five years ago when 2K decided to move their basketball franchise to an open world. EA better make their open world more robust and not clunky and slow. EA should allow players to move freely and make decisions that a normal player would if they want.

Players should be able to buy clothes, go out to eat with friends, and travel to different worlds if they want. If EA makes FC27’s open world rigid, it could come at the cost of being forced to compete with GTA 6, whose open world offers endless activities and tasks players can do for days.

2K is in the same boat as EA because they have not been able to make their open world more engaging, and every year, it is the same thing. Go to the shops to buy clothes and get a tattoo. The interactions with other players and teammates are very rigid. Every year,  players are losing their patience with both franchises.

There is a sense that EA and 2K would change their open-world gaming and introduce more robust modes and activities throughout the city. If they continue to do the same as in their previous games, then on November 19, EA and 2K will have to shut their servers because gamers would be playing GTA 6. Both companies will lose money through their microtransactions for their modes within the game.
