Society has approved it
The dating world continues to change, and the form of dating is not people dating their own age group. Men and women are now looking for their partners to be older than them. This is the new norm for dating, and societal approval has become widely accepted.
Dating your own age is a thing of the past, as people who date their age group have said that people in their own age group are immature, and the only thing that they want is intimacy.
New shows on Netflix, such as ‘Age of Attraction’ and ‘Temptation Island’, explore the reality of dating younger or older people. ‘Age of Attraction’ explores older people dating younger people and explores the diverse issue of dating someone older to be your parent or someone younger to be your child.
Also, ‘Temptation Island’ explores how couples can date people who are either older or younger than them. In some cases, you will have a person who is 38 years old dating a 19-year-old because they connect and have things in common.
A lot of people may argue that age-gap dating and marriage have been happening for centuries. In some cultures, this is acceptable and the norm, as you have an older man who will want to date a girl who is in her teens and get married to her. Although it might be wrong, it is part of their culture and must be respected.
This ideology is slowly creeping into Western culture and is becoming acceptable. And it will become more apparent as the years go by. Age-gap relationships are everywhere, and they are not going to change, so it is time we become accustomed to them.
